The US Mint chose to redesign the dime in honor of Roosevelt’s legacy, particularly his initiative with the March of Dimes. With the previous design, the Mercury Dime, in circulation for over 25 years, the dime was a fitting choice for redesign without needing congressional approval.

On the obverse of each 90% Silver Roosevelt Dime, you’ll find a left-profile bust of President Roosevelt, designed by John Sinnock in 1946. The reverse features a central torch flanked by an olive branch and an oak branch.
