The Germanic Gods Series is the second collection from Germania Mint to feature mythological figures on cast silver bars. Each bar includes a colorized image on the reverse and stamped hallmarks on the obverse. This Tyr design is the second release in a planned series of six bars, each with its own unique serial number.

Tyr’s name likely stems from the Proto-Germanic word Tiwaz, which means “god” or “deity.” He shares linguistic roots with similar gods in other Indo-European mythologies, such as the Vedic god Dyaus and the Latin god Jupiter. In Norse mythology, Tyr is often associated with the concept of ting, a legal assembly where disputes were settled and laws were established.

On the obverse of the Germania Mint Gods Tyr Cast Silver Bar, you’ll find the piece’s identifying hallmarks. These include a simplified Germania Mint mark, a stylized G with an M at its center, along with the purity, metal content, and weight.
