Product Details

Canada has a long-standing tradition of gold discovery and production, making it a significant player in the global gold market. The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) is at the heart of this legacy, renowned for producing some of the purest gold bullion coins in the world. Among these is the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf series, which includes special releases like the 2008 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin, crafted from .99999 pure gold. Right now, you can find this exceptional coin available at BullionMax.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in a special assay card from the Royal Canadian Mint!
  • Assay card includes a capsule space for the coin!
  • Unique 5-nines gold content!
  • Limited mintage of 27,476 coins!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .99999 pure gold in BU condition.
  • Bears a face value of $200 (CAD) backed by the federal government of Canada.
  • Obverse depicts Queen Elizabeth II.
  • Reverse features maple leaves connected to a small branch.

Each 2008 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is presented in a sealed assay card, providing authentication details in both English and French. This coin is a rare and pure example of the Royal Canadian Mint’s expertise, with its .99999 pure gold content setting it apart as one of the purest gold coins available.

Canada’s gold history dates back to the late 18th century, with significant gold rushes in the mid-19th century, such as the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush in British Columbia and the Klondike Gold Rush in Yukon Territory. These events played a vital role in shaping the nation’s development and established Canada’s reputation as a leader in gold refining and production.

The obverse of the 2008 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile bust was created by Susanna Blunt in 2003 and is notable for being the only portrait of the Queen used on Canadian coins that does not feature a crown or tiara, marking a distinctive period in her reign.

On the reverse side of 2008 1 oz Gold Maple Leafs, you’ll find a unique depiction of the sugar maple leaf. Unlike the traditional single maple leaf design, this .99999 pure gold coin showcases two maple leaves connected by their stems to a small branch, adding a special touch to this limited release.
