The $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin is a classic piece of American history, minted by the United States Mint from 1838 to 1907. With a long and rich history, this coin was part of the nation’s currency until 1933. The 1893 issue stands out as a significant part of this series. Right now, 1893 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins are available in certified condition from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
These 1893 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins come with a Mint State 63 grade from either PCGS or NGC. In this condition, coins show good mint luster, although it may be slightly affected by minor contact marks or a few larger marks. Some hairlines may also be visible, either scattered or in small patches.
The Philadelphia Mint produced over 1.8 million of these coins in 1893, the last year that four mints were involved in the production of the $10 Liberty Eagles. While Philadelphia had the largest mintage, other mints like Carson City struck far fewer coins, with only 14,000 from Carson City before it closed in 1893.
On the obverse, the 1893 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin features Lady Liberty in a left-profile bust designed by Christian Gobrecht. Liberty is shown wearing a coronet crown, surrounded by 13 stars, with the date of 1893 below.
The reverse design of the 1893 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle includes a powerful image of the American bald eagle. The heraldic eagle has the US national shield on its chest, and it holds arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing war and peace. The Type II design includes a banner above the eagle displaying the national motto, added to the design in 1866.
