The US Mint’s Liberty Head Eagle Coin, a $10 gold piece, holds the record for the longest-running design in the US Eagle coin series. This iconic design was created by Christian Gobrecht, the third Chief Engraver of the US Mint, in 1838 and was used on $10, $5, and $2.50 Eagle coins. The $10 Liberty Eagle was in production for 69 years, from 1838 until 1907. Right now, certified 1900 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins are available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each 1900 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle available here is in Mint State 63 condition. These coins come in protective plastic slabs, and while they have a slight loss of original mint luster, they remain in great shape. MS63 coins typically show small contact marks, with a few more noticeable marks possibly in prominent areas. You may also find some light scratches or patches of hairlines on the surface.
In 1900, the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints were the only two branches striking $10 Liberty Gold Eagles. The Philadelphia Mint struck a total of 293,840 coins that year, while San Francisco issued just 81,000 coins. Overall production numbers were lower than in previous years, making certified coins from this year even more special.
The obverse of the 1900 Liberty Gold Eagle features a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty. Christian Gobrecht designed this classic image, which shows Liberty wearing a coronet crown, with 13 stars encircling her head. The date mark is found below her portrait.
On the reverse of the 1900 $10 Liberty Eagle, you’ll find the heraldic eagle. This proud American bald eagle is shown with wings spread wide, holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. A banner with the national motto, “In God We Trust,” flies above the eagle, marking this as a Type II coin.
