The Morgan Silver Dollar is a significant part of American coin history, known for its beautiful design and rich background. First minted in 1878, the Morgan Dollar was produced each year until 1904, then it returned for a final minting in 1921 after a 17-year break in silver dollar production. During its time, the US Mint had branch facilities in cities like Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco, Carson City, and Denver. Among these, the Carson City Morgan Dollars are especially popular with collectors. Right now, you can find the 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
The Carson City Mint was established to take advantage of silver discoveries in the American West. From 1878 to 1885, it struck Morgan Dollars each year. After a three-year pause from 1886-1888, the mint resumed production in 1889 and continued until 1893 when it closed permanently. In 1883, the Carson City Mint produced 1,204,000 coins, the smallest number among the four active branch mints that year.
All of these 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, each securely packaged in plastic flips. For those interested in buying in larger quantities, these coins may also come in tubes of 20, when available. The Morgan Dollar is made of a metal blend containing 90% silver and 10% copper.
On the obverse of the 1883-CC Morgan Dollar, you will find a stunning depiction of Lady Liberty. Designed by George T. Morgan in 1878, this image shows Liberty in left-profile relief, wearing a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet. Surrounding her are 13 stars, which add to the coin’s meaning and symbolism.
The reverse side of the 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar features a distinctive design of the heraldic eagle, also created by Morgan. This design shows a bold bald eagle facing forward, with its wings wide open, holding arrows of war in one talon and an olive branch representing peace in the other.
