Proof American Gold Eagles from the United States Mint have a unique journey compared to their bullion counterparts. Both authorized by the Gold Bullion Act of 1985 and introduced together in 1986, the proof series initially featured a 1 oz gold coin. However, it wasn’t until the release years of 1987 and 1988 that fractional weights were introduced, leading to the beloved 1/10 oz proof coin. Today, you can get your hands on 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagles online, sourced from various years, right here at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
The United States Mint launched its fractional-weight Proof Gold Eagles in 1987 and 1988, starting with the 1/2 oz gold coin in 1987, followed by the 1/4 oz and these 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagles in 1988. The US Mint has continuously produced Proof Gold Eagles except for the year 2009.
The 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins available through BullionMax are sourced from various years, selected randomly from our warehouse after your payment is processed. Please note that specific date marks cannot be guaranteed. All coins come in protective plastic capsules and do not include original US Mint boxes.
For buyers of 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins, there have been significant historical changes in this series. Between 1988 and 1991, date marks were listed in Roman numerals, transitioning to Arabic numerals from 1992 onward. Furthermore, mint marks on proof coins for fractional weights vary annually. While the 1 oz coin has been produced at the West Point Mint since 1986, 1/10 oz Gold Eagles were initially struck at the Philadelphia Mint, bearing a “P” mint mark from 1988 to 1993. Subsequently, from 1994 onwards, the West Point Mint issued these coins with a “W” mint mark.
Discover the elegance of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Lady Liberty on the obverse of the American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin. Liberty is seen walking toward the viewer, holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
The stunning design of a family of bald eagles by Miley Busiek is on the reverse of the Proof American Eagle Gold Coin. A female eagle is seen with its children while the male eagle is seen flying around them. Identifying marks of the coin surround this image.
