Goldbacks debuted with the Utah Goldback Series, offering Americans the first spendable form of gold in nearly a century. These unique notes are made with 24-karat gold and feature designs that honor each state’s heritage. Florida is the newest state to join the Goldback lineup, introducing new denominations like the 1/2, 2, and 100 Goldbacks. Right now, 1/2 Florida Goldback Gold Notes are available at BullionMax.
Note Highlights:
Each 1/2 Florida Goldback Gold Note is a new denomination within the Goldback Series. Made of thin layers of .9999 pure gold encased between two durable polymer sheets, these notes are lightweight, flexible, and designed for both spending and collecting. The Florida Goldback Series introduces three new denominations, including this 1/2 Goldback note.
The design of the 1/2 Florida Goldback Gold Note reflects Florida’s early exploration history. The central figure is a young woman in traditional Spanish Conquistador armor, kneeling beside a fountain. She has removed her helmet and holds water from the legendary Fountain of Youth, a nod to the myths tied to Florida’s history.
Florida’s name and its association with the Fountain of Youth date back to Juan Ponce de León’s arrival in 1513. Landing during the Easter season, or Pascua Florida, he named the peninsula “La Florida” for its lush, flowering landscape. Though his quest for the Fountain of Youth was secondary to territorial expansion, the mythical spring remains a lasting symbol of his brief exploration. Ponce de León’s later return to Florida ended in conflict with indigenous peoples, marking a tumultuous chapter in its history.
