The Australian Nugget-Kangaroo collection has seen some changes since it began in 1986. From 1986 to 1989, the coins showed different gold nuggets for each weight. In 1990, the series became the Australian Kangaroo, with new kangaroo designs each year. Between 1990 and 2008, the coins featured kangaroos but kept the “Australian Nugget” engraving on the reverse.
