The Liberty Head Eagle Coin, a $10 gold piece from the US Mint, holds a special place in American coinage history as the longest-running design in the US Eagle denomination. This design was introduced in 1838 by Christian Gobrecht, the third Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, and it was used on $10, $5, and $2.50 Eagles. Among these, the $10 Liberty Eagle had the longest production run, with coins minted from 1838 to 1907. Now, 1907 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins in certified condition are available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each 1907 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin is housed in a protective plastic slab and comes in Mint State 64 condition. These coins show a good level of mint luster and some minor scattered marks. A few hairlines may appear on the surface, either scattered or grouped in a small area.
In 1907, both the Liberty Head and Indian Head designs were issued for the $10 Gold Eagle. The final mintage of $10 Liberty Gold Eagles included over 1.2 million coins from the Philadelphia Mint, with other smaller issues from the Denver and San Francisco Mints.
The obverse of the 1907 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin features Christian Gobrecht’s famous bust of Liberty. This design shows Lady Liberty in left-profile relief wearing a coronet crown. Her image is surrounded by 13 stars representing the original colonies, with the date mark below.
On the reverse, the 1907 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle displays the heraldic eagle of the United States. This Type II version includes a banner above the eagle with the national motto. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace, symbolizing strength and peace.
