Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907, the $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coin marked the final design series for the first-ever gold coin denomination in American history. Originally introduced in 1795, the $10 Eagle featured two previous designs before Saint-Gaudens’ Indian Gold Eagle design was chosen for this denomination. Now, 1932 Pre-33 $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coins are available from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each 1932 Pre-33 $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coin in this listing has a grade of MS62. Coins with this grade show a muted mint luster with clusters of small marks, and some may have a few larger marks in focal areas. The coins are encased in slabs with labels from either PCGS or NGC, but we cannot guarantee the label design or the grading company for individual coins. All coins in this listing are MS62 specimens.
Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ $10 Indian Eagle coin design, created during the early 1900s, is considered a standout in American numismatic history. Featuring a striking depiction of Liberty with a Native American-style headdress on one side and a dignified bald eagle perched on the other, this design reflects the artistic excellence of the American Renaissance era under President Theodore Roosevelt’s leadership.
The obverse of the 1932 $10 Indian Gold Eagles features Lady Liberty with an indigenous headdress. Although called the “Indian Head” design, the coin showcases the classic Liberty imagery popular in the era. The design includes 13 stars in an arch above Liberty and the year of issue below her bust.
On the reverse of the 1932 Pre-33 Indian Eagle Coin, an American bald eagle is shown perched on a sheaf of arrows wrapped with an olive branch. This design was originally intended for the US Penny but was selected by President Roosevelt for the $10 Eagle instead. It is one of only two designs Saint-Gaudens created for US coinage, both of which have left an enduring legacy in American coin history.
