The Royal Canadian Mint introduced the Gold Maple Leaf Series in 1979 as the second modern gold bullion coin series in the world. Over the years, the series has expanded to include fractional gold, silver, platinum, and palladium coins, all featuring the iconic sugar maple leaf design. Now, you can purchase 1999 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins with a special 20th-anniversary privy mark online at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
On the obverse of the 1999 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf, you’ll find a right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This particular design was the second-generation effigy of the Queen to appear on Canadian coinage and was the first created by a Canadian artist. Dora de Pedery-Hunt crafted this depiction of the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem.
The reverse of the 1999 Gold Maple Leaf features the classic sugar maple leaf design created by Walter Ott. This image has been the defining feature of the series since its inception in 1979. In honor of the series’ 20th anniversary, this edition includes a special oval-shaped privy mark with the inscription “20 YEARS ANS.”
The release of the 1999 Gold Maple Leaf marked an important milestone for the series. When the coins debuted in 1979, they were initially available only in a 1 oz weight with .999 gold purity. In 1982, the Royal Canadian Mint enhanced the gold purity to .9999 and introduced fractional-ounce options, including the 1/10 oz gold coin.
These 1999 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins with the 20th-anniversary privy mark are available in protective plastic flips. Though the series launched in 1979, it wasn’t until 1982 that the Royal Canadian Mint expanded its offerings with the first 1/10 oz gold coins.
