Product Details

The Chinese Gold Panda Series was first introduced by the Chinese Mint in 1982. When the series began, it included four weights: 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz. In 2001, the Chinese Mint increased the face value of each denomination, a change that remains in place today. Right now, you can purchase the 2004 1/2 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin online at BullionMax.

Each 2004 1/2 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin is securely packaged in a sealed plastic pouch from the Chinese Mint. The 1/2 oz Gold Panda was one of the original weights available when the series launched in 1982. Initially issued with a 50 Yuan face value, this changed in 2001 when the denomination was increased to 200 Yuan.

The reverse of the 2004 Gold Panda showcases a mother panda tending to her cub. Giant pandas are known for their strong maternal instincts, with mothers providing constant care to their young. Cubs are carried, nurtured, and fed for months before they begin exploring their environment.

On the obverse of the 2004 Chinese Gold Panda Coin, you’ll find a detailed depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This structure, located within Beijing’s Temple of Heaven, is one of the most recognizable landmarks in China. The image shows the hall’s exterior from the base of its staircase, a design that has remained on Gold Panda coins since the series debuted.

The reverse of the 2004 1/2 oz Gold Panda Coin highlights the bond between a mother panda and her cub. Giant panda mothers are highly protective and spend the first two years teaching their cubs essential survival skills, including how to forage for bamboo.
