Product Details

First introduced in 1979, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is one of the oldest gold bullion coins available today. Initially, it featured a 1 oz gold coin with .999 pure gold. In 1982, the Royal Canadian Mint expanded the series to include fractional-ounce coins and increased the gold purity to an impressive .9999 fineness. Now, 2010 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available from BullionMax.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes with an individual plastic flip!
  • 32nd release of Gold Maple Leafs!
  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • The face value of $20 (CAD) is fully backed by the Canadian government.
  • On the obverse is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse side features a sugar maple leaf.

From 1979 to 2023, Queen Elizabeth II was the only monarch to appear on the obverse of Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins. Over this period, her image evolved through three different portraits. The final portrait, created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt, depicted the Queen at the age of 79.

Each 2010 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin from BullionMax comes in an individual plastic flip. This 1/2 oz coin is the largest of the fractional-ounce options in the series. The series began with 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins in 1982, and the 1/2 oz version was introduced in 1986. Later additions included 1/20 oz (1993) and 1 Gram (2014) coins.

The obverse of the 2010 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This design, the last effigy of the Queen to appear on these coins, shows her in right-profile relief without a crown.

On the reverse, the 2010 1/2 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin displays the iconic sugar maple leaf. This design, created in 1979 by Walter Ott, is used across all versions of the Gold Maple Leaf series, as well as on the Silver, Platinum, and Palladium Maple Leafs. The maple leaf is a well-known symbol of Canada.
