The 2013 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coin available here includes a protective plastic flip. This release was influenced by increased demand during the Great Recession, particularly impacting the 1 oz gold coin.

On the obverse, you’ll find Lady Liberty, a 1907 design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Liberty is depicted walking forward with an olive branch in one hand and a torch in the other.

The reverse side features a family of bald eagles, designed by Miley Busiek in 1986. The visual captures a male eagle soaring over the nest as a female eagle guards hatchlings.

Saint-Gaudens’ iconic Liberty image first appeared on American currency in the early 20th century, debuting on the 1907 $20 Gold Double Eagle. This marked a significant era of beautiful artwork in American coinage.
