Product Details

For most of its history, the Gold Britannia Series has featured a single monarch on the obverse. After the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, The Royal Mint introduced coins with King Charles III on the obverse, marking a first for the program. However, before this transition, the early 2023 coins were minted one last time with Her Majesty’s effigy. Currently, you can purchase certified-perfect 2023 1/10 oz British Gold Britannia Coins from BullionMax.

Coin Highlights:

Each 2023 1/10 oz British Gold Britannia Coin offered here is in perfect condition. These Mint State 70 coins shine with full, original mint luster and show no flaws. Notably, these coins are part of the last 500 struck by The Royal Mint for the 2023 Britannia Series.

The Royal Mint’s Britannia Series had consistently featured Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse until 2023. From 1987 to 2022, she appeared on all gold coins, and from 1997 to 2022 on all silver coins, with five different portraits. Early in 2023, Queen Elizabeth II appeared one final time before her effigy was replaced with King Charles III.

The obverse of the 2023 British Gold Britannia showcases the last effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This design, created by Jody Clark in 2015, presents the Queen in right-profile relief at the age of 89, wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown.

On the reverse side of the 2023 1/10 oz Gold Britannia Coin, you will see Philip Nathan’s iconic depiction of Britannia. This image, crafted in 1987, features Britannia in full-length, wearing a Corinthian helmet. She holds a trident in her right hand, symbolizing Britain’s naval prowess, and rests her left hand on a Union Jack shield, representing the defense of the nation.
