The coins are packaged in plastic flips for protection and are the second-smallest option in the series. The Gold Libertad series includes five different weights, from 1 oz to 1/20 oz, with four fractional-ounce coins in total.

The 1/10 oz Gold Libertad was first issued in 1991. Gold Libertads initially appeared in 1981 in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz sizes, but production halted until 1991, when the 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz coins were introduced. These five sizes were produced until 1994, with a brief return in 2000, and have been minted annually since 2002.

On the obverse of the 2024 Mexican Gold Libertad Coin, you’ll see the modern coat of arms of Mexico. This central seal features a golden eagle in left-profile relief, perched on a prickly pear cactus and engaged in a battle with a serpent. This imagery is rooted in Aztec legend, where the Aztecs were instructed to build their capital where they saw an eagle eating a snake.

The reverse side of the 2024 1/10 oz Gold Libertad Coin showcases Winged Victory. This statue, a symbol of the Mexican struggle for independence, is depicted atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column, holding a laurel crown in one hand and broken chains in the other.
