Fraser skillfully combined the facial features of three real-life tribal figures from the early 20th century, capturing a stoic expression that represents the strength and heritage of Native Americans.
The reverse side of the 2024 1 oz Gold Buffalo features another breathtaking design by Fraser. It showcases an American bison in left-profile relief, standing on a small patch of dirt. With its head lowered as it grazes, this image was inspired by Black Diamond, a bison residing at the Central Park Zoo during the early 20th century.
