The United States Mint first introduced the Burnished Gold Eagles in 2006. Initially available in three fractional-ounce weights, since 2011, these coins have been offered exclusively in the 1 oz size. Known for their matte finish, Burnished Gold Eagles are minted in limited quantities each year.
The obverse side of the 2024-W Burnished American Gold Eagles showcases the iconic Lady Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, created in 1907. This design depicts a full-length image of Liberty in front-facing relief, advancing forward with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand.
On the reverse, the 2024-W 1 oz Burnished Gold Eagle Coin features a contemporary design of the American bald eagle by Jennie Norris, introduced in 2021. This design shows the left-profile of the eagle’s head, capturing detailed plumage as the bird gazes into the distance.
