Each 2025 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin is in Mint State 70 condition, which means it is considered a perfect specimen. MS70 coins have their original mint luster and no imperfections. The First Day of Issue label is given to coins received for certification within 24 hours of release from the mint.
The bald eagle has been part of the Gold Eagle Coin Series since its beginning. As a symbol of strength and freedom, the eagle has long represented the ideals of the United States. Known for its soaring heights, the eagle was the perfect choice to symbolize the nation’s independence.
The obverse of the 2025 American Gold Eagle Coin features Lady Liberty, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907 for the $20 Double Eagle. The design shows Lady Liberty in a full-length figure with sun rays shining behind her, holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
On the reverse of the 2025 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Coin is a depiction of the bald eagle. Redesigned by Jennie Norris in 2020, this powerful image shows the eagle’s head in left-profile relief. It was first introduced in 2021.
