On the obverse of the 2025 1/2 oz Gold Lunar Snake Coins, you’ll find the first-ever depiction of King Charles III in the Lunar Series III collection. Designed by Dan Thorne for the Perth Mint, this left-profile portrait shows the King without a crown, marking a new era for the series.
The reverse side features a striking coiled snake design by Sean Rogers. The snake is wrapped around bamboo shoots, with foliage overhead, creating a serene yet powerful image. This design captures the essence of the Snake year in the Zodiac, which has historically been viewed as a time of both potential and caution.
Over the years, the perception of Snake years in the Zodiac has shifted. In certain times, they were celebrated as years offering immense potential for growth and enlightenment. In other times, they were regarded more warily, as periods where unseen threats might be lurking.
These 2025 1/2 oz Australian Gold Lunar Snake Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individual coins come in plastic capsules, while multiples are sealed in rolls of 20 coins. With an unlimited mintage for this year, the Perth Mint will continue striking these coins until the next design in the series is released.
