The American Gold Eagle was introduced by the United States Mint in 1986 as the nation’s official gold bullion coin. This release marked an important moment in U.S. history, ending a 53-year pause on gold coin production that had started during the Great Depression. Now, 2025 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
The obverse of the 2025 1 oz Gold Eagle Coin showcases Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ classic portrayal of Lady Liberty. She strides forward with confidence, holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Originally designed in 1907, this image appeared on the $20 Gold Double Eagle until 1933, embodying the nation’s spirit of liberty and progress.
On the reverse side, the 2025 American Gold Eagle features a detailed image of a left-facing bald eagle, created by Jennie Norris in 2020. This powerful portrait replaced the original 1986 eagle design by Miley Busiek and highlights the strength and freedom the bald eagle has come to represent as the national symbol of the United States.
While the bald eagle became the national symbol after the American Revolution, there was some debate—Benjamin Franklin famously suggested the wild turkey as a better choice, citing the eagle’s occasional scavenging habits. Still, the bald eagle’s majestic look and soaring flight ultimately made it a fitting symbol of American independence and strength.
Each 2025 1 oz American Gold Eagle in this collection is graded as Mint State 70, indicating a perfect coin with full mint luster and no noticeable imperfections. The Early Release designation is given to coins submitted for grading within 30 days of their release, ensuring these are among the first issued for 2025.
