On the reverse side, Britannia stands tall on the 2025 British Gold Britannia Coins. This classic design by Philip Nathan, introduced in 1987, presents Britannia in front-facing relief. She wears a Corinthian helmet and holds a trident in her right hand, while her left hand rests on a Union Jack shield, clutching an olive branch.
Britannia’s imagery has shifted over time to embody evolving national values and Britain’s role in the world. The trident symbolizes naval dominance, the shield represents the nation’s defense, and the helmet signifies wisdom and protection. The lion at her feet denotes courage and strength, while the olive branch she occasionally holds stands for peace.
These 2025 1 oz British Gold Britannia Coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individual coins are available in plastic flips, while multiples of 10 come in acrylic tubes.
