The 2025 release is just the second time King Charles III has been included on Canadian Maple Leaf coins. The design shows the king in a left-profile portrait without a crown.
On the reverse side of the 2025 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf, you’ll find a sugar maple leaf, a design created by Walter Ott in 1979. This classic image has been on the reverse of all Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins since its debut and is also present on the silver, platinum, and palladium versions.
The sugar maple leaf has long been an important symbol in Canada. It’s featured on coins, souvenirs, and more, and its vibrant autumn colors have made it a beloved part of Canadian culture and landscape.
