Each 2025 1 oz Proof Australian Gold Lunar Snake Coin is carefully packaged, coming in a protective capsule within a striking red Lunar Series III presentation box. The outer design of the box highlights the Year of the Snake. These coins feature frosted designs with mirrored backgrounds, enhancing their visual appeal. Although Perth Mint will produce a total of 2,500 of these coins, only 1,000 will be released in this special packaging.
The Year of the Snake in the Lunar Calendar is associated with wisdom, introspection, and subtle transformation. Celebrated every twelve years, the snake symbolizes intelligence, intuition, and an intriguing charm. Those born in Snake years are believed to have sharp insight and a natural ability to navigate complex situations with grace.
On the obverse of the 2025 Proof Australian Gold Lunar Snake Coin is the portrait of King Charles III. Created by Dan Thorne, this left-profile bust of His Majesty marks the first time Charles III’s image has appeared on Australian coins, debuting in the Lunar Series III with the 2025 Year of the Snake release.
The reverse side, designed by Sean Rogers, showcases a snake coiled around bamboo shoots. This design is exclusive to the gold coins in this year’s Lunar Series III and will also be featured on platinum coins in the same collection.
