The New Hampshire Goldback is the perfect fusion of real, physical gold in a form that’s convenient for everyday use. These 5/1000th oz NH Goldback bills are priced within just about everyone’s budget – how often can you buy real gold bullion for less than it costs to have a supreme pizza delivered?

Every Goldback is denominated in 1/1000th troy oz of gold (so this 5 Goldback has five milli-ounces, or 5/1000th troy oz, of 0.999 pure physical gold at its core). Goldbacks are currently minted in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 – and it’s easy to tell them apart! Sensibly, larger denomination bills are physically larger, as well. That’s not just good design, it’s also an inherent part of the minting process. Here’s why:

The Goldback is created by latest-generation technology by Valaurum. Essentially, the process involves vacuum-depositing a precisely-measured quantity of atomized gold particles onto a thin, decorated sheet of polymer. The resulting note is then sealed by a second protective polymer barrier. The result is a surprisingly tough and durable note, almost paper-thin, containing a precisely-measured quantity of physical, 0.999 fine gold. And obviously, the easiest way to get more gold into the Goldback is to simply make it larger. Thus, the high-denomination Goldback bills are bigger than smaller denominations. (If you’re planning on using Goldbacks as your walking-around money, you’ll probably want to spend a few bucks on a Goldback-friendly, non-folding banker’s wallet.)

Every 5 New Hampshire Goldback bill is more than just a finely-crafted, distinctive form of gold bullion – it’s probably the most spending-friendly gold you’ll find. (Note this is not “legal tender” – instead, it’s an “experimental sound money project within the states that authorize its use as such” including New Hampshire, as its inventors say.) Well, even if the federal government doesn’t agree that Goldbacks have value, what would rational people think?

Goldbacks are suitable for barter anywhere. Imagine offering to pay your dentist or neighborhood body shop in Goldbacks rather than dollars – do you think they’d say yes? According to research done by the Goldback team, nearly 50% of small businesses they polled aren’t just happy, they’re absolutely delighted to accept payment in Goldbacks (so long as they understand the exchange rate). In other words, the Goldback experiment could do for currency what crypto did for money – this could become the future of sound money…

All in all, we think the New Hampshire 5 Goldbacks note is the bee’s knees. We love them, and we think you will, too.

A word of warning, though – Goldbacks sell out fast! Ever since their initial launch, Goldbacks have been pretty hard to find. After all, anybody can put together enough scratch to buy real physical gold at these prices. So if you want real gold that’s affordable, easy to spend or barter, better get yours fast!

New Hampshire 5 Goldbacks (5/1000 oz) gold note highlights:

  • Second-smallest weight in the New Hampshire Goldback series, and one of the most affordable price points make this a gold bullion note for the people!
  • Distinctive colorized designs differentiate both the state of issue and the denomination
  • Each New Hampshire 5 Goldbacks bill contains 5/1000 troy oz of 0.999 pure gold
  • Obverse depicts Truth, or Veritas, shining the light of truth on the uncertainties of life
  • Privately manufactured by Valaurum in the United States of America using latest-generation manufacturing techniques that have never been counterfeited
  • Individually serialized bill for authentication purposes

A closer look at the 5 New Hampshire Goldback note

The 5 Goldback denomination’s New Hampshire design features the virtue Veritas. And there’s a lot going on in the design! We’ll let the Goldback’s inventors break it down for you:

New Hampshire’s 5 Goldback design is the second time that Veritas, or Truth, makes an appearance. She is depicted here wearing a colonial dress, offering the light of a candle, and walking along a path that leads to a covered bridge over a foggy river. She symbolizes the light of truth and offers that light to others, beckoning them to come toward her and follow the path that leads them safely through the fog of obscurity and confusion that is their demise without her light. The covered bridge is patterned after one that can be found along the Kancamagus Highway, though similar covered bridges can be found all around the state. On Truth’s left is a purple lilac bush, the state flower, and on her right is a purple finch, the state bird, and below her is the caption “Walk in Truth”.

To the side of the path is a guardrail, representing how truth protects us and that if we hold fast to it, it will lead us along the path. In the background the viewer can see a moose, which are well known for their massive presence, territorial nature, poor eyesight, and excellent hearing and smell, which here represents steadfastly standing for and protecting truth and using many senses to identify it, even when it is hard to see.

What is a Goldback?

We love gold coins, but when it comes to spending them, well, they just aren’t practical. Traditionally, copper and silver were used for lower-denomination transactions where gold’s high value-per-ounce is just unwieldy. Using gold for everyday transactions is like trying to buy a candy bar and a soda with a $100 bill. Gold coins are beautiful, they’re intrinsically valuable, they’re always in demand – but that doesn’t make them good for everyday use.

Fortunately, some very smart folks saw the challenges that prevent wider adoption of actually using physical gold for everyday transactions, and they solved it by inventing the Goldback.

Here’s what its inventors have to say about it:

The Goldback® is the world’s first physical, interchangeable, gold money, that is designed to accommodate even small transactions.

Nicely done, folks – nicely done!

Is my order insured while in transit?
Yes, BullionMax fully insures all of its shipments. Should anything happen while your package is in transit to you, it will be covered by our insurance policy.
However, we will not accept responsibility if you have left instructions with any carriers or delivery services to leave parcels unattended for you without the need for a signature, or if you have given the carrier instructions to leave your package with anyone other than the addressee. This includes but is not limited to a building manager, neighbor, a business mailroom, drop-off location such as Mail Boxes, etc., The UPS Store, the Military Postal Service, etc.
Additionally, we will not assume responsibility for packages that are signed for by apartment/complex building management, a business mailroom, the Military Postal Service, or any person(s) that are not the addressee listed on the order. When we ship to you, if metals are lost or damaged in transit, it is our responsibility to pursue any claim with the insurance company. If we determine the package is lost or damaged, we file a claim.
We reserve the right to re-ship your items or refund your money at our discretion.

If nobody is available at the delivery address to sign and accept delivery, the package will be returned to us.

Where do you ship orders from?
All orders will ship from our warehouse in Los Angeles, California. We conceal the return address on all packages so as to not hint at the contents of the package.

No. UPS 3-Day Air service excludes shipments to UPS Stores, as well as Alaska, Hawaii and APO addresses.

My package appears to have been damaged or tampered with. What should I do?

If you have taken possession of a damaged or tampered package, please save all packaging and contact call us at (800) 729-3202 during normal business hours of 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PT) Monday – Friday within 48 hours for further instructions. Failure to notify us of damage or tampering within 48 hours from signature or delivery date may impact our ability to cover your claim.

What happens if my order is lost in transit?
We see very few delivery issues with our carriers, but sometimes delays do occur. In those situations, we appreciate your patience to wait a little longer for your package (at least 7 business days) before contacting us. Should the package not arrive, an investigation of the shipment is required before any order is reshipped or refunded. We may ask you to file a police report if it appears loss is due to theft or tampering. Your assistance speeds up the investigation and the sooner we complete it, the sooner we can resolve the missing order.
