About the 2020 Formula One World Championship

The 70th anniversary of the first Formula One World Drivers' Championship carried on despite numerous cancellations and postponements, regardless of the fear that gripped the world. Seventeen Grand Prix races took place across Europe and Asia over six months, inspiring fans around the world to keep calm and carry on. 

The U.K.’s Lewis Hamilton took first place in an astonishing eleven of the seventeen races, handily winning the 2020 World Drivers’ Championship and tying Michael Schumacher’s record of seven World Drivers’ Championship titles. Lewis broke Schumacher’s previous record of 91 career wins during the 2020 Portuguese Grand Prix. (Trust us, it was a truly exciting year for F1 fans.)

Mercedes secured their seventh consecutive Constructors' Championship making them the only team to win seven consecutive championships (and breaking Ferrari's 1999-2004 record).
