Goldbacks are the result of bringing 21st century technology to bear on the 6,000-year history of gold as money. Each Wyoming Goldback gold note contains, at its core, 1/1000th oz of 0.999 pure gold sealed between two transparent sheets of protective polymer. That makes every goldback self-backing money, intrinsically valuable in the same way that gold coins are.

Thanks to fifth-generation vacuum-deposit technology (pioneered by Valaurum), each goldback contains an incredibly precisely-measured quantity of gold bullion applied almost atom-by-atom with sub-microscopic precision. Before releasing these new goldback notes to the public, Valaurum assays each run via weight, electrical conductivity testing, X-ray and fire assaying representative samples (basically, melting the note down and weighing the resulting gold).

Furthermore, Valaurum has pioneered new levels of anti-counterfeiting technologies to keep goldbacks secure, including:
