The British Britannia bullion series is known for its detailed representation of Britannia, a classic symbol of strength and tradition on British coinage. Britannia’s image first appeared on Roman coins from the 1st Century AD and was later introduced on British national currency in the 17th century. Today, 2025 1/10 oz British Platinum Britannia Coins are available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Britannia was first included on British coinage in 1672 during the reign of Charles II, appearing on copper halfpennies and farthings. Inspired by earlier Roman depictions, the original design by John Roettier portrayed Britannia seated on a rock, looking over the sea with a shield and spear. Over the centuries, this imagery evolved, incorporating an olive branch, changes to her helmet and shield, and different variations in her seated posture.
Each 2025 1/10 oz British Platinum Britannia Coin is available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are packaged individually in plastic flips, in protective tubes of 25 coins, or in Monster Boxes containing 500 coins. Each Monster Box holds 20 tubes.
The obverse of the 2025 British Platinum Britannia features King Charles III. This left-profile portrait by Martin Jennings is the first official coinage portrait of Charles III and does not include a crown.
On the reverse of the 2025 1/10 oz Platinum Britannia, Britannia is depicted in a dynamic, windblown stance against a stormy sea. Philip Nathan’s 1987 design for the gold Britannia introduced this interpretation, combining traditional symbolism with a modern artistic approach. The reverse also includes advanced security features such as motion texture waves in the background, a latent security image in the lower left, micro-text surrounding Britannia, and tincture lines on the UK flag within her shield.
