The obverse of the 2019 1.5 oz Bottlenose Dolphin Silver Coin includes the sixth and final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II used on Australian coins. Designed in 2015 by Jody Clark, this right-facing effigy features the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem. It was adopted by the Perth Mint in 2018 and has appeared on various coin releases since then.

On the reverse, the coin displays a pair of bottlenose dolphins leaping above the ocean surface. These dolphins often form pods that consist of 10 to 30 members. In the South Pacific, they are known for group hunting techniques, like “mud ring feeding,” where they trap fish inside a circular wall of stirred-up mud to make feeding easier.
