Product Details

Crucifixion was a cruel form of punishment used throughout the ancient world. This type of punishment was commonly used on dissidents, traitors, and enemies as a form of both torture and death. While this type of fate was used on many, many people, the most common crucifixion in the world is that of Jesus Christ. Right now, you can purchase Golden State Mint (GSM) 1 oz Silver Crucifixion Shield Round from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Ships in a protective plastic flip or tubes of 20 rounds!
  • Part of the Silver Shield Collection!
  • Each round contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • Obverse shows the image of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
  • Reverse showcases the Silver Shield design.

In first-century Judea, Jesus was crucified for going against the rabbis of the Jewish temple and the Roman rule. Jesus spoke of knowing God and creating a new branch of Christianity. However, before he could educate the masses, he was put to death. His death cleansed mankind of all of our sins.

Obverse

On the obverse side of each of these rounds, you will see the image of Jesus Christ as he is hanging on the cross. You can see the nails going through each hand and his feet. The crucifixion caused Jesus’s body to fail. Eventually, his body could support its own weight, and his lungs were unable to take in any more air.

Reverse

The reverse side of the round features the common design elements for all of the rounds in the Silver Shield Collection. It is a sword position on its point. There is an ornate design that surrounds the sword. Flames can be seen on the outer edge of the coin. You can also find the weight, purity, and metal content of the round engraved on this side of the round.

History

The image of Jesus on the cross is used in many Christian religions and symbols. Many churches have crosses featured prominently near their alter. This imagery is meant to remind us all of the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for all of us on the cross all of those years ago.
