At Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953, ten statues representing heraldic animals stood at the entrance to Westminster Abbey. These figures, known as the Queen’s Beasts, represented the Queen’s family history and royal ancestry, drawing on deep roots in British heraldic symbols.

The obverse of The Royal Mint Queen’s Beast Collection Silver Bar includes a design by Jody Clark, which features all 10 heraldic beasts arranged in a circle. In the center is the first official coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, created by Mary Gillick in 1952. The beasts include the Lion of England, Griffin of Edward III, Falcon of the Plantagenets, Black Bull of Clarence, Yale of Beaufort, White Lion of Mortimer, White Greyhound of Richmond, Red Dragon of Wales, Unicorn of Scotland, and White Horse of Hanover.

On the reverse of 1 oz Queen’s Beast Collection Silver Bars, the bar features a guilloche background pattern. At the center of this side is The Royal Mint’s logo. Around it are key hallmarks that identify the bar’s weight, purity, and metal content.
