The Morgan Silver Dollar is a cherished piece of US history, known for its beauty and significance. First introduced in 1878, these coins were minted annually until 1904 and returned for a special issue in 1921 after a 17-year pause. Throughout its history, the US Mint produced these coins at several branch mints, including Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco, Carson City, and Denver. Among them, the Carson City Morgan Dollars are particularly sought after by collectors. Right now, 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each of the 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and comes individually packaged in plastic flips. If available, you can also find them in tubes containing 20 coins. The Morgan Dollar was created by the United States Mint using an alloy made up of 90% silver and 10% copper.
The Carson City Mint played a specialized role in producing Morgan Silver Dollars, built to capitalize on the rich silver mines in Nevada and the surrounding areas. In 1884, the mint struck one of its largest outputs, producing 1,136,000 coins during that year.
On the obverse side of the 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Coins, you’ll see a classic portrait of Lady Liberty. Designed by George T. Morgan in 1878, this depiction features Liberty in left-profile relief, adorned with a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet crown. Surrounding her are 13 stars representing the original colonies.
The reverse design of the 1844-CC Morgan Silver Dollar showcases a unique version of the heraldic eagle, also created by Morgan. This image features a bold bald eagle facing forward, with its wings spread wide. The eagle grasps arrows, symbolizing war, and an olive branch, representing peace, in its talons.
