The Morgan Silver Dollar, first introduced by the United States Mint in 1878 and designed by George T. Morgan, is one of the most recognizable coins in American history. Produced until 1904 and with a final issue in 1921, it has witnessed key moments like the Reconstruction Era and the early 20th century. Now, you can get your hands on the 1885-O Morgan Silver Dollar from BullionMax.

In 1885, four different U.S. Mint locations produced Morgan Silver Dollars: Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco, and Carson City. The New Orleans Mint struck 9.185 million coins, making it the second-highest mintage behind Philadelphia’s 17.78 million coins. These historic coins were made from 90% silver and 10% copper, making them both valuable and collectible.

All 1885-O Morgan Silver Dollars available here are in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. Individual coins are packaged in protective plastic flips, and larger orders may ship in tubes of 20 coins, if available. These coins are a great addition to any collection or for anyone interested in silver’s historic value.

The obverse of the 1885-O Morgan Dollar Coin showcases a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, a crown of laurel leaves, and a coronet inscribed with “Liberty.” This design is said to have been based on Anna Willes Williams, and Liberty is surrounded by 13 stars representing the original colonies.

On the reverse of the 1885-O Morgan Silver Dollar, you’ll find George T. Morgan’s design of an American eagle with its wings fully spread. The eagle holds arrows, symbolizing strength, and an olive branch, representing peace. Unlike many other U.S. coins, this design does not feature a shield in front of the eagle.
