Product Details

The Morgan Silver Dollar Series began in 1878, featuring new designs from George T. Morgan that reimagined Liberty and the bald eagle. This collection restarted silver dollar production in the United States after a five-year break. Morgan Dollars were made each year from 1878 to 1904, then once more in 1921 after World War I. Today, you can find 1888-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins available in certified condition through BullionMax.

The obverse of the 1888-O Morgan Silver Dollar shows George T. Morgan’s interpretation of Liberty. She is shown in left-profile wearing a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet inscribed with “Liberty.” Around her portrait are thirteen stars, symbolizing the original American colonies.

On the reverse of the 1888-O Morgan Dollar Coin, the design features a bald eagle with its wings raised high. In its talons, the eagle holds arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. A wreath wraps around the lower half of the design, and the national motto is placed above the eagle.

In addition to the Morgan Dollar, George T. Morgan created commemorative medals and helped design other coins for the U.S. Mint. His work is known for combining strong artistry and technical skill, helping to shape the look of American coins during an important period in the nation’s history.

Each of these 1888-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins has been graded as Mint State 64. Coins with this grade usually display good mint luster with a few noticeable groups of small contact marks. You might also see one or two larger marks or small areas of hairlines.
