In 1896, the Philadelphia Mint produced the highest number of Morgan Dollars compared to any other U.S. Mint facility. With 9,976,000 coins minted, Philadelphia surpassed both the San Francisco and New Orleans Mints. The San Francisco Mint struck 5 million coins, while the New Orleans Mint produced 4.9 million, giving Philadelphia the lead.
