Each 1896 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin available here is in Mint State 63 condition. Coins with this grade have a nice eye appeal for their age, with slightly impaired mint luster. The coin may show numerous small contact marks, a few heavy marks, and small hairlines visible without magnification. Each coin comes in a plastic slab.

In 1896, the US Mint issued nearly 20 million Morgan Silver Dollars. These coins were split between the New Orleans, San Francisco, and Philadelphia Mint locations. Philadelphia produced the greatest volume at 9.976 million coins, followed by San Francisco with 5 million coins and New Orleans with 4.9 million coins. In total, the three branches combined to produce nearly 20 million coins.

For the obverse design of the 1896 Morgan Dollar Coins, George T. Morgan’s bust of Lady Liberty is featured. This left-profile relief follows classical art with Liberty wearing a coronet crown and a Phrygian cap. The field includes 13 stars along the bottom half of the design.

The reverse design of the 1896 Morgan Silver Dollars features another of Morgan’s designs. Here, his unique version of the heraldic eagle shows a bald eagle in front-facing relief clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace, with a wreath enclosing most of the bird’s figure.
