The New Orleans Mint played an important role in producing Morgan Silver Dollars. This series was minted yearly from 1878 until 1904, and after a 17-year gap, the Morgan Dollar returned for a single year in 1921. The mint issued coins each year from 1879 to 1904, reopening in 1879 after the Civil War and closing in 1909, thus missing the inaugural 1878 release and the final 1921 issue.

Each 1898-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coin is available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are individually packaged in protective plastic flips, with sets of 20 coins available in protective tubes. In 1898, the New Orleans Mint narrowly surpassed the San Francisco Mint in production volume, striking 4,440,000 Morgan Dollars compared to 4,102,000 coins from San Francisco. Philadelphia had the highest production at 5,884,000 coins.

On the obverse of the 1898-O Morgan Dollar Coins, you will see the well-known design of Lady Liberty created by George T. Morgan. This design features Liberty in left-profile relief, wearing a Phrygian cap and a coronet crown, adorned with a laurel wreath. Surrounding her are 13 stars and the date mark.

The reverse side of the 1898-O Morgan Silver Dollar showcases the heraldic eagle. This image features the American bald eagle in a front-facing pose, with its wings spread wide, clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.
