Product Details

The Peace Silver Dollar, first introduced by the US Mint in 1921, is recognized as the last silver dollar series issued by the United States. Its launch coincided with the final year of the Morgan Dollar series, and the production of Peace Dollars continued until 1935, marking the end of silver dollar minting. Currently, 1923 Peace Silver Dollar Coins are available from BullionMax.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives inside individual plastic flips!
  • 3rd issue of Peace Dollar Coins!
  • Final mintage of 30,800,000 coins from Philadelphia!
  • Contains .7734 Troy oz of actual silver content in BU condition.
  • Bears a face value of $1 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • The obverse depicts Lady Liberty.
  • On the reverse is the American bald eagle.

Each of the 1923 Peace Silver Dollar Coins is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The series was struck from 1921 through 1928, with additional coins produced in 1934 and 1935. Coins are provided in plastic flips, while multiples may be packaged in tubes of 20 when available.

The 1922 and 1923 Peace Silver Dollar issues were among the most produced by the United States Mint. During these years, the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints all struck coins. Philadelphia alone minted over 82 million Peace Dollars in these two years. Specifically, in 1923, Philadelphia produced 30.8 million coins, Denver contributed 6.811 million, and San Francisco struck 19.02 million.

The obverse of the 1923 Peace Dollar features the design of Lady Liberty by Anthony de Francisci, shown in left-profile relief. She wears a radiant crown of light, symbolizing freedom and enlightenment, with the national motto and the year of issue encircling her image.

On the reverse side of the 1923 Peace Silver Dollar is a tranquil bald eagle resting on an olive branch. This design, also by de Francisci, reflects the nation’s hope for peace after the turmoil of World War I. Rays of light emanate from the edge of the coin, enhancing the peacefulness of the design.
