The Peace Silver Dollar is known as the last 90% silver dollar to be used in everyday American currency. First introduced in late 1921, these coins marked the return of silver dollar coinage to the United States. The design, created by Anthony de Francisci, was selected through a national competition involving several prominent American artists. Right now, 1925 Peace Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
The Peace Silver Dollar was introduced in December 1921 as a replacement for the Morgan Silver Dollar, which had briefly returned to circulation earlier that same year. Over the years of production, the Peace Dollar had a varying mintage, with the first few years seeing high numbers while later years had lower mintage figures. In 1925, the Philadelphia Mint struck 10.198 million coins, while the San Francisco Mint struck 1.61 million.
Each 1925 Peace Silver Dollar Coin offered here is certified in Mint State 65 condition. Coins with this grade are recognized for their appealing, high-quality luster, even considering their age and the strike. Though minor contact marks may be visible, or occasionally a larger mark, these coins retain a great overall appearance. Some faint hairlines may also be present on the fields.
The obverse of the 1925 Peace Dollar Coin features a detailed depiction of Lady Liberty. This left-profile design captures Liberty’s flowing hair and a radiant crown of light above her head. Inscriptions on this side include the national motto and the year of issue.
On the reverse of the 1925 Peace Silver Dollar is an inspiring image of the American bald eagle, which is the inspiration for the coin’s name. The eagle is perched on a rock, holding an olive branch in its talons. The wings are folded as the eagle gazes forward, while sunlight beams across the background.
