This marked the beginning of the Peace Dollar series, which would go on to be the final silver dollar program in US history. The obverse design of the 1935 Peace Silver Dollar features Lady Liberty, created by Anthony de Francisci. This last silver dollar design depicts Liberty in left-profile relief, wearing a radiant crown symbolizing freedom and peace. The design also includes the national motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the date of issue.

On the reverse of the 1935 Peace Dollar, you’ll find the image of an American bald eagle resting on an olive branch. This design, also by de Francisci, symbolizes the nation’s desire for peace after the end of World War I. The eagle looks toward the horizon, where rays of sunlight emerge, representing hope for a peaceful future.

The Peace Silver Dollar was born from the 1918 Pittman Act, which required the US to melt down millions of silver dollars to convert them into silver bullion for sale to Great Britain. The 1935 Peace Dollar was the last coin in the series, with the Philadelphia Mint producing 1.576 million coins and the San Francisco Mint contributing 1.964 million.

Each 1935 Peace Silver Dollar is available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The series was originally struck between 1921 and 1928, with additional mintages in 1934 and 1935. Individual coins come in plastic flips, and multiples may be packaged in tubes of 20 if available.
