When the American Silver Eagle coins first debuted in 1986, they were only available for purchase during the final two months of the year. However, the 1987 release changed the game, as these coins became accessible throughout the entire year, making it a significant milestone for the series.

The 1987 1 oz American Silver Eagle had a total mintage of 11,442,335 units, a significant increase from the previous year. This mintage record remained unbroken for two decades until the 2008 Silver Eagle surpassed it with a total of 20.583 million coins sold.

The obverse of the 1987 American Silver Eagle features the iconic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman. Liberty walks towards the sun with the American flag over her shoulders, oak and laurel branches in hand, symbolizing the nation’s resilience.

On the reverse, the heraldic eagle of the United States takes center stage, positioned behind the national shield with a cluster of 13 stars above its head representing the original American Colonies.

All 1987 1 oz American Silver Eagle coins from BullionMax come with Mint State 69 certifications from PCGS. These coins exhibit full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detracting flaws, such as minuscule contact marks and hairlines.
