Chinese Panda bullion coins have been a staple from the Chinese Mint since 1982. Initially, they were exclusively gold bullion and silver proof coins. However, by 1989, the Chinese Mint expanded its offerings to include a reliable BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) Silver Panda collection, featuring 1 Troy oz coins made of .999 pure silver. Now, you can find the 1993 1 oz Chinese Silver Panda Coins available for purchase online at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Historically, giant pandas roamed throughout southern and eastern China, as well as parts of Myanmar and northern Vietnam. However, habitat destruction and fragmentation have confined them to mountain ranges in central China, primarily in Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces.
Giant pandas are mostly solitary animals, except during the mating season and when raising cubs. They reproduce at a low rate, with females typically giving birth to a single cub every two years. Cubs stay with their mothers for about 1.5 to 3 years before becoming independent.
The obverse of the 1993 1 oz Silver Panda Coins features a charming depiction of the Giant Panda. Each year in this series showcases a new portrayal of the Giant Panda, except for the 2002 coin. In 1993, the mint portrayed a Giant Panda seated in left-profile relief on a rock ledge with bamboo shoots surrounding it.
On the reverse side of the 1993 Chinese Silver Panda coin, you’ll find the image of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This design is a recurring motif, annually adorning the reverse of these coins, depicting the exterior of the building that serves as the center of the Temple of Heaven Complex.
These 1993 1 oz Chinese Silver Panda Coins come sealed in plastic pouches. Notably, they feature large date marks, indicating they were minted at the Shanghai Mint. The mintage of 1993 Silver Pandas at Shanghai was approximately one-third the volume of those issued at the Shenyang Mint with small date marks.
