In Chinese culture, the Year of the Goat symbolizes peace, harmony, and tranquility. Each Chinese zodiac year is associated with one of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water). The Year of the Goat can be further classified by its element. For example, a Year of the Wood Goat, Year of the Fire Goat, and so on.

The obverse of the 2003 Australian Silver Lunar Goat Coin features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998.

On the reverse of 2003 1 oz Silver Lunar Goat Coins, Sarah Anderson’s exquisite design portrays a nanny goat standing beside its young kid, capturing the essence of the Year of the Goat.
