Product details

The 1st design of 2015 and the 26th overall release of the America the Beautiful Quarters pays homage to the Homestead National Monument of America.

Unlike most coins in the U.S. Mint's series, the Silver 5-oz ATB 2015 Homestead comes with a rather symbolistic appeal. The design accurately captures the scope and importance of the Homestead Act of 1862, symbolizing the fundamentals of survival common to all homesteaders.

Get your Silver ATB coins and bring the history and beauty of our nation home to you. Silver 5-oz ATB 2015 Homestead is now available at BullionMax.

About the Silver 5 oz Homestead coin

The obverse of the Homestead quarter is a portrait of the first President of the United States, George Washington. This same portrait designed by John Flanagan is on the obverse of all America the Beautiful coins and a characteristic of U.S. coins since 1932.

The reverse of the Silver 5-oz ATB 2015 Homestead has an emblematic design of the Homestead National Monument of America. The coin depicts a cabin surrounded by two ears of corn. The illustrated cabin represents the local construction style in Nebraska. In the middle of the coin, a water pump would have been used to gather water from a deep-earth well. The design represents the three elements homesteaders needed to survive: food, shelter, and water.

About Homestead National Monument of America

As part of the America the Beautiful series, this coin is a memorial to the rich history of homesteading centered in Nebraska. The Silver 5-oz ATB 2015 Homestead coin tells the epic homesteading story of early pioneers to life. The Homestead silver bullion coin depicts the true scope and importance of the Homestead Act of 1862. The law that transformed the world, America first.

The Homestead Act of 1862 was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln, granted free land allowing nearly any man or woman a chance of owning his or her land. Millions of citizens were invited to file claims including, families, single women, immigrants, and freed slaves. As a result, over 10 percent of the United States was homesteaded! The landscape inhabited by American Indian cultures changed forever. Citizens who were granted lands created settlements and farms outside the Eastern Seaboard region drove industrial advancement westward and built our nation chasing the American Dream.
