The Silver 5-oz ATB 2018 Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Silver Coin celebrates the national park and the beautiful state of Wisconsin. The coin consists of 5 troy ounces of 99.9% pure silver, backed by the Federal Government at a value of 25 cents.

About the silver 5 oz Apostle Islands coin

The obverse features a portrait of George Washington, the first U.S. president. John Flanagan designed the portrait in 1932. The portrait has been an integral part of U.S. quarters ever since. It also includes the official motto of the United States.

On the obverse side, designed by John Flanagan in 1932, we see several elements that align with U.S. patriotic visions. We see the official motto of the United States, “In God We Trust," placed prominently alongside the word “Liberty,” a key concept from the founding fathers. The central symbol on this side is the left-profile of the first elected U.S. president, George Washington. This coin design was intended to commemorate the 200th anniversary of his birth.

The reverse image of the Silver 5-oz ATB 2018 Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Silver Coin features some of the famous sandstone sea caves near the shoreline along with a lighthouse on the far right. They serve as popular attractions for outdoors and sports enthusiasts. It’s also worth noting that the best views come from the water surface. It also includes the year of the coin’s release and the state of Wisconsin which the coin celebrates.

About Apostle Islands National Lakeshore

Wisconsin is a geographically diverse U.S. state located in the north-central, Midwest, and Great Lakes regions of the country. It is one of the leading dairy producers in the United States, and it’s commonly known as “America’s Dairyland," famous for its Wisconsin cheese.

It’s also well known for its variety of geographical features and natural attractions like the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, and Lake Superior to name just some. It also boasts 4 National Parks of which the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore might just be the best one.

The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is a national park that consists of a group of 22 islands, located in Lake Superior which is known as the “largest, cleanest, and coldest of the Great Lakes." The national park covers an area of 69,723 acres of land, and it’s known for its high number of historic lighthouses, sandstone sea caves, beautiful beaches, old-growth remnant forests, and over 800 plant species that occur within the lakeshore.
