Sumatran tigers are found exclusively on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, where they inhabit dense tropical rainforests, peat swamp forests, and evergreen hill forests. They prefer areas with dense vegetation cover and access to water sources. The tigers are skilled tree climbers, using their sharp claws to scale trees and ambush prey from above. Their roar can be heard up to 2 miles away.

The obverse of the 2020 Australian Silver Sumatran Tiger Coin features Queen Elizabeth II. Her Late Majesty is shown in right-profile relief in a design by Jody Clark from 2015. This portrait captures the Queen at 89 years old, wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. It was the final portrait of Elizabeth II used during her reign.

On the reverse, a Sumatran tiger is depicted in the 2020 1 oz Silver Australia Zoo Sumatran Tiger Coin. Sumatran tigers are solitary and territorial. Males and females meet only to mate.
