The Silver 5-oz ATB 2020 National Park of American Samoa coin represents the American Samoa, the United States southernmost territory, and one of two U.S. territories south of the Equator. It celebrates the rare fauna and flora found on the islands like the loveable giant fruit bat found on the reverse of the coin.
It marks the first coin released in the 2020 ATB series and the 51st overall in the collection. Like the others, it bears a face value of $0.25 (USD) backed by the government, even if its symbolic value is much greater than that.
About the 5 oz silver National Park of American Samoa coin
The reverse side of the 2020 ATB National Park of American Samoa silver coin features a lovely image of a Samoan flying fox mother standing hanging upside-down with its pup. The Samoan flying fox is a medium-sized bat weighing around 16 oz with a wingspan of about 2 ft 10 in. This flying fox is indigenous to Fiji, Samoa, and American Samoa. The name of the national park and its location are inscribed on the smooth edge of the coin, along with the 250-year-old U.S. motto “E pluribus unum.”

The National Park of American Samoa is a national park consisting of three islands in the territory of American Samoa: Tutuila, Ofu, and Ta‘ū. It’s designed to preserve and protect the natural fauna and flora found around the island, and the unique Samoan culture.
