The eagle has landed! The brand-new 2022 issue of the 1 oz American silver eagle coin, that is… We just received a shipment of 2022 American silver eagles from the U.S. Mint and we’re thrilled to offer you America’s most popular silver coin.

These silver eagle coins are in brilliant, uncirculated condition, direct from the U.S. Mint. (They don’t sell bullion coins directly to the public, but instead rely on a handful of authorized distributors like us to get bullion coins into your hands.) 2022 is the first year all silver American eagles will have an updated reverse design.

You’ll recognize the familiar obverse, Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty figure draped in an American flag, bearing a bundle of oak branches, with one hand held out in welcome. The stylized rising sun is just a perfect addition to the image, and the details of the folds and billows of her garments never cease to amaze us. Master artists can make silver look like a flowing gown! The obverse’s primary message, around the rim, is hard to miss: LIBERTY.

The reverse is the new Type 2 design from Emily Damstra and Michael Gaudioso, discussed in detail below. Text around the rim reads “United States of America,” One Dollar,” “1 oz. fine silver,” and E pluribus unum. (That’s the motto of the U.S., Latin for “Out of many, one.”)

Over the last two years, demand for 1 oz American silver eagle coins has been relentless. The U.S. Mint sold over 30 million in 2020, over 27 million last year. We don’t know for sure how many they’ll mint this year. We do know the best way to avoid disappointment is to get yours today!

*We pack individual coins in plastic sleeves for protection before shipping. If you order 10+ of the same coin, we’ll secure them in protective tubes before shipping.Orders in 500 piece increments ship in a sealed Monster Box straight from the U.S. Mint. Monster boxes provide the best safety and protection to your bullion during shipment when you order in bulk.

Highlights of the 1 oz American silver eagle 2022 coin:

  • 1 full ounce of 0.999 fine silver
  • Adolph Weinman’s familiar obverse paired with an exciting and dynamic new reverse design
  • Brilliant, uncirculated condition, fresh from the U.S. Mint
  • Incredibly popular among investors and collectors for 25+ years
  • Individual coins ship in a protective plastic case; multiples of 20 are packaged in U.S. Mint tubes; multiples of 500 are packaged in monster boxes.

Symbolism of the American silver eagle Type 2 design

These 2022 silver eagles are of the Type 2 design, the updated reverse first launched mid-2021. Designer Emily Damstra and artist Michael Gaudioso collaborated on this dynamic, arresting design. Take a close look. From the bald eagle’s posture and attitude, at first glance it appears to be diving on prey. Then we note the oak branch clutched in its talons. Since Roman times, oak leaves have symbolized military prowess and victory. During triumph marches, Roman generals were crowned with oak leaves symbolizing their battlefield successes. Here, though, the bald eagle doesn’t seem to be particularly warlike. Rather we imagine that, just below and out of frame there’s a sprawling nest holding this eagle’s family. The symbolism here is intriguing and multi-layered. Beating swords into plowshares? Returning victorious from battle to help defend the family in the nest? Using this symbol of victory to build something new?

We aren’t entirely certain. What we do know is that Damstra and Gaudioso’s masterwork looks amazing, full of energy and motion. Regardless of the meaning you take away from this design, you have to admit it’s absolutely striking.

About the American silver eagle program

Silver American eagles are among the most popular silver coins globally, and they’re permissible within IRAs for investors looking to secure their retirement savings with physical precious metals.

The US Mint first released the Silver Eagle in 1986, and it remains the official silver bullion coin of the United States. The coin has been minted in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and West Point over the years. Its weight and content are certified and guaranteed by the U.S. Mint. The lower premiums, stunning design, and widespread popularity make these coins an evergreen choice for investors and collectors alike.

Yes, BullionMax fully insures all of its shipments. Should anything happen while your package is in transit to you, it will be covered by our insurance policy.
However, we will not accept responsibility if you have left instructions with any carriers or delivery services to leave parcels unattended for you without the need for a signature, or if you have given the carrier instructions to leave your package with anyone other than the addressee. This includes but is not limited to a building manager, neighbor, a business mailroom, drop-off location such as Mail Boxes, etc., The UPS Store, the Military Postal Service, etc.
Additionally, we will not assume responsibility for packages that are signed for by apartment/complex building management, a business mailroom, the Military Postal Service, or any person(s) that are not the addressee listed on the order. When we ship to you, if metals are lost or damaged in transit, it is our responsibility to pursue any claim with the insurance company. If we determine the package is lost or damaged, we file a claim.
We reserve the right to re-ship your items or refund your money at our discretion.

This is a precaution to prevent orders from being fraudulently intercepted. UPS will make three delivery attempts. If nobody is available at the delivery address to sign and accept delivery, the package will be returned to us.

Where do you ship orders from?
All orders will ship from our warehouse in Los Angeles, California.  We conceal the return address on all packages so as to not hint at the contents of the package.

If you have taken possession of a damaged or tampered package, please save all packaging and contact call us at (800) 729-3202 during normal business hours of 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PT) Monday – Friday within 48 hours for further instructions. What happens if my order is lost in transit?
We see very few delivery issues with our carriers, but sometimes delays do occur. In those situations, we appreciate your patience to wait a little longer for your package (at least 7 business days) before contacting us. Should the package not arrive, an investigation of the shipment is required before any order is reshipped or refunded. We may ask you to file a police report if it appears loss is due to theft or tampering. Your assistance speeds up the investigation and the sooner we complete it, the sooner we can resolve the missing order.
