The U.S. Mint has been issuing American Eagle coins for nearly four decades, in multiple grades and weights and in a range of different precious metals. The American Silver Eagle design remained unchanged until 2021’s releases replaced the customary heraldic eagle with a new soaring eagle design by noted artist Emily Damstra.
The obverse field of these coins feature the iconic Walking Liberty design that originated with Adolph A. Weinman, showing a full-length Lady Liberty walking toward the rising sun. The reverse field features a soaring bald eagle in left-profile relief, carrying an oak branch in its talons.
